Shamlaji Trek
Hello All
Some info about one hidden and unnoticed place of Gujarat.
I love trekking. I find some time to go to any place where nature is at the best. And as you know India is the hub of the places like this. From Himalaya to Kanyakumari, there are lots of exciting places like small or bug hills where you can just enjoy your trek.
I am from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Most of the people of Gujarat will agree to me that there are no such places where you can experience the adventurous thing. But wait wait wait... My this thinking just changed just before few days. Yeah I found some new places ( oohhh I didn't find it actually but just found that this is a good place for trek :) )
Place
Ok ok, now to reveal the mystery I tell you the place. It is Shamlaji. Yeah it is in Gujarat and somewhat famous holy place. Shamlaji is near to Himmatnagar, nearly 40 KM away. From Ahmedabad it is nearly 120 KM. You can take National Highway- 8 ( Mumbai - Ahmedabad - Delhi ) to proceed from Ahmedabad. You can count two and half hours from Ahmedabad at max. And It is a good place for one day or half day Picnic from Ahmedabad.
significance
"Shamlaji" , is famous place for God "Vishnu" Temple. It is at same significance as Dwarka or Dakor Temple. There is also"Meshwo" Dam just behind the main Temple. But nature lover will not go there only for these. Yeah there is a lot more there.
The Dam is the major attraction to the "Shamlaji" . It is tooooo big dam with water almost all 365 days. You can pass few hours sitting at the Dam. It is not allowed to go in the water of the Dam so you need to watch the beauty of the water from away at the back. But cool atmosphere will make you smile and will make your mood...And if you are a lover, i m damn sure that you will miss your loved one if he/she is not with you :))
Actual Attraction
Well, this is not for what you have came Shamlaji... There is a lot more... If you just can see there is a hill just opposite to Dam. You need to go on the Top... yeah now your tour will start dear. There is a small temple. it is so small that can't be seen clearly from nearby the hills. I think that temple has no such significance as no people go there normally...That is just nearly obsolete. But the place where this temple is just awesome.
It is just 20-30 minutes Trek only. And it is a very simple that even 10 years Boy can do that. If you are walk regularly or trek regularly then may be 15 minutes is the max time you can reach there.
The main pain point is to find the start or the base from where you start. And local people might not help you as those people are also unknown from this tiny hill. But the start of the trek is nearly 200 Meter before he actual Dam starts. It is on the main road only. You will find one small board named something about "Gujarat Van Vibhag" ( this is not perfect line but some lines similar to this ). That is the exact place from where you can start off. The path of the trek is very simple. only some stones and rocks are there on the way which makes your trek easy and simple. And If you are a good nature photographer then each leaves and each tree can give you good snaps. If you have no hurry then take your own time to reach the top.
Now at the top of the hill. Wow, what a scene. You are the heaven or what ? The view of all Aravali Hills ( I hope I am right about the hills name ) is awesome. The beauty of nature will make you speechless. The view of "Mehswo" Dam gives you infinite pleasure. you will come to know it is the one of the most biggest Dam of Gujarat when you will be on the pick of this hill. The nature lover will be the most happiest after coming here. The giant hills and the road splitting those hills give you the same view same as the Hair Style of AamirKhan in Gajini :)))
you can spend many hours sitting here. And if you are in a group of few then well this is the best picnic place. chill out here, play some cards or some small games. Otherwise having gossips is the best option all friends have. Also if you just sit idle and lost in some memories then that is also a good option. ( may be for lovers or love lost people ) . Watching Sun Set here can be a good idea too.
This was just about the small trek at Shamlaji Hill. Also you can pass some time near the Dam also. If you are religious then Shamlaji temple is also a place where you can worship for some time. Food is not a problem here. You will find few restaurants here too.
Well in short there is good place for "One day picnic" from Ahmedabad or nearer places. May be not full day but definitely half day you can pass over here. If you are looking for another half day to make a perfect one day picnic then you can go to "Polo forest", which is also a good place. Keep reading my next blog for this place. :))
Have a nice trip. Enjoy.
